Levocetirizine 2.5 mg, and Montelukast 4 mg Syrup

SKU: 8c1f13456261 Category:

Levocetirizine 2.5 mg and Montelukast 4 mg Syrup- The combination syrup is prescribed for the management of symptoms of allergy. The syrup is normally given to children but can be given to adults too, as prescribed by a physician. The drug comes under two classes, antihistamines and leukotriene antagonists. Allergies occur in a variety of forms, such as watery or runny nose, watery or itchy eyes, itching of the throat and skin rash, itchy throat, and allergic cough due to pollution or dust. It targets all such conditions.

It has both levocetirizine and montelukast in it. Levocetirizine blocks H1 receptors on your immune cells and thus does not allow histamine (a chemical causing allergic symptoms) to bind and cause an allergic response. Montelukast blocks the action of leukotriene (a chemical causing inflammation and swelling in the nasal passages and airways). When used in combination, these two drugs give early and prolonged relief as compared to the use of either drug alone. It can be easily administered to children because it’s in liquid form. You must consult a doctor before administering it and never self-medicate. Dosage is age- and weight-specific. You can store this syrup in a cool and dry place after opening.

Manufactured by Max Life Sciences, the syrup is developed under manufacturing facilities that are WHO-GMP compliant. The company sells it under the brand name Leekast Syrup.

Mechanism of Cough and Allergy Syrup

Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that works by preventing histamine (a body chemical that is released during an allergic response) from binding to its receptors. This helps to ease symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, and nasal irritation.

Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by blocking leukotrienes (inflammatory chemicals that cause airway swelling, mucus secretion, blocked nasal passages, and shortness of breath during an allergy and asthma response). Montelukast aids the airway and lungs by allowing a greater flow of air.
