Terrific O 200 is a special and effective combination therapy for bacterial infections while preserving gut health. The components in each tablet are Cefixime 200 mg and Lactic Acid Bacillus 60 million spores. This two-pronged action of this medication effectively relieves the bacterial infection and decreases any side effects associated with antibiotic therapy in the gastrointestinal tract, such as GI upset, diarrhoea, bloating, longer stomach pain, and/or discomfort. Terrific O 200 can be prescribed for these illness: respiratory tract infections; urinary tract infections; otitis media; typhoid fever; and some GI infections.
Mechanism of Action
Cefixime: Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works via inhibition of the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefixime binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), and inhibits the last step of peptidoglycan cross-linking in the cell wall. Cephalosporins like Cefixime cause bacterial cell wall lysis and death, leading to the elimination of the infection. Cefixime is generally effective against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
Lactic Acid Bacillus: Normally found in the gastrointestinal tract, lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that can help restore normal intestinal microflora. Antibiotics can disrupt the bacteria in the gut, leading to overt diarrhoea or other dysregulation of digestion. Lactic acid bacillus prevents this dysregulation by restoring gut bacteria balance, enhancing digestion, and subsequently reducing the likelihood of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, associated with other secondary infections.
Dosages and Administration
The dosages of this medicine must be taken as prescribed by the doctor for effective results.
- For adults, the recommended dose is 1 tablet once or twice daily as prescribed by the doctor.
- For children above 12 years, the dose must be recommended by the doctor.
Administration
- Take the tablet with or without food, but it is recommended to take it after a meal for proper tolerance .
- Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early, to avoid antibiotic resistance.
- Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Possible side effects
This medicine may have some side effects which are usually adapted by the body, but if it persist, consult your doctor. Some of the side effects are :

Precautions and warnings

- Do not self-medicate or stop the medication before the time period.
